Doug Buffone was a former American football linebacker who played for the Chicago Bears in the NFL. He was born on June 27, 1944, in Yatesboro, Pennsylvania. Buffone played college football at Louisville before being drafted by the Bears in the fourth round of the 1966 NFL Draft.
Buffone spent his entire 14-season career with the Bears from 1966 to 1979, earning a reputation as a tough and hard-hitting linebacker. He was known for his leadership on and off the field, and was a fan favorite for his passion and dedication to the team.
After retiring from football, Buffone became a sports radio personality in Chicago, where he continued to be a beloved figure in the city's sports community. He passed away on April 20, 2015, at the age of 70. Buffone was posthumously inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
